For someone who once owned and managed 1,000 plus beehives, Daniel Smolyuk has his sights firmly set on promoting America's honey industry in a unique way. A wood sculptor, designer, tinkerer and visionary who is endowed with ample energy and drive, Daniel, his wife Anna and their 11 children are all busy as bees six days a week in their workshop next to their rural home northeast of Sedalia, MO. Their minds and hands are striving to make their Golden Bee Supply Company swarm throughout the U.S. market.

 

From his 30 years' experience in bee keeping in Europe and in California (since 1997), Daniel became keenly aware of the need for sturdier beehive frames and boxes than what was available. After he and his family moved from California to Sedalia five years ago, he conceived the idea of a cottage industry that would keep all 26 hands in his family assembling and shipping annually hundreds of thousands of high-quality hardware to house bees anywhere in America.

 

Since the start of the Golden Bee Supply business, what the Smolyuk family has hand-assembled and packed, Daniel, a professional interstate trucker, has himself delivered them in states as far-flung as Florida, the Dakotas, California, and the Carolinas, and many other in between.

 

As co-owners of Golden Bees LLC, Daniel and Anna have entrusted their oldest daughter, Miya, the financial management of the business. Moses, their oldest son, is the company manager, while the younger siblings share all other duties.
